Kris Van Cleave is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist currently working as the senior transportation correspondent for CBS News based in Phoenix, Arizona, where he also serves as a national correspondent reporting and contributing to all CBS News broadcasts and platforms. Van Cleave worked as a reporter and anchor at Washington, D.C.’s WJLA-TV and NewsChannel 8 for almost eight years before joining CBS Newspath. He covered the 2012 South Carolina GOP presidential primary, the Virginia Tech massacre, and the mass shooting at Washington’s Navy Yard while he was there. In addition, he broadcast from Haiti following the tragic earthquake, covered local troops in Afghanistan, and reported from outside the White House the night the word broke that Osama bin Laden had been dead. Van Cleave also anchored the 6 p.m. newscast on NewsChannel 8.
