Stephanie Elam is an American television journalist, working for CNN as a correspondent based in the network’s Los Angeles bureau. Elam has covered a variety of stories since moving to the western region. Elam oversaw CNN’s coverage of Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano in 2018 as a large portion of the Leilani Estates neighborhood on the Big Island was destroyed by its eruption. She arrived a few hours after the eruption started and recorded the lava’s unrelenting flow as it destroyed everything in its path.
