Nic Robertson is a British award-winning journalist, working as a CNN International Diplomatic Editor whose experience, knowledge and expertise have established his reputation as one of the finest international correspondents in the industry.
As a producer, Robertson covered the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 1990s and covered the First Gulf War from Baghdad, Iraq. When the September 11 attacks occurred in 2001, he was one of the very few Western TV journalists covering Afghanistan. He covered events from Beirut in 2006 during the Israel-Lebanon conflict, New Orleans in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina, Iraq in 2002 and early 2003 before the US invasion of that country, and Norway following Anders Behring Breivik’s 2011 massacre.
Robertson covered the Libyan Civil War and spoke with Iman al-Obeidi, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, and Al-Saadi Gaddafi, the sons of Muammar Gaddafi, while reporting from Libya during the Arab Spring. During the 2011 Bahraini rebellion, Robertson reported from Bahrain and was the only Western television journalist to speak with Bahrain’s Crown Prince, Salman. During the Israel-Hamas conflict in 2023, he entered Gaza on an embed with the Israeli army. Al Jazeera accused Robertson in 2024 of intentionally disseminating false information about the Israel-Hamas conflict in 2023.
