Lesley Stahl is an American television journalist. She has spent most of her career with CBS News, where she began as a producer in 1971. Since 1991, she has reported for CBS’s 60 Minutes. She is known for her news and television investigations and award-winning foreign reporting.
As a 60 Minutes correspondent for more than 30 years, Stahl has covered major news stories and interviewed global leaders. Stahl reported from Israel four times this past season, both before and after the Hamas terror attack on October 7, 2023. He was also one of the few Western journalists to travel to China for a reporting trip because Chinese President Xi Jinping has restricted foreign media access to the country. She went to Tehran to interview Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi at his presidential complex, marking his first interview with a Western reporter. She also interviewed the late Senator John McCain at his ranch in Arizona just weeks before he passed away from cancer. Stahl has covered Romania’s illicit baby market as well as the suffering of Kurdish refugees in Iraq.
