Anderson Cooper is an American broadcast journalist and political commentator who anchors the CNN news broadcast show Anderson Cooper 360°. In addition to his duties at CNN, for two decades Cooper served as a correspondent for 60 Minutes, produced by CBS News. In 1995, Cooper began working for ABC News as a correspondent. Still, he quickly took on additional roles across the network, including co-anchor, reality game show presenter, and fill-in host of a morning talk show for a brief period.
After joining CNN in 2001, Cooper was given his own program, Anderson Cooper 360°, which he has continued to present ever since. His on-the-ground reporting of major news events earned him a reputation, and his fame skyrocketed after he covered Hurricane Katrina. Cooper was awarded the highest medal bestowed by the Haitian government, the National Order of Honour and Merit, for his coverage of the 2010 earthquake. Additionally, he hosted his own syndicated television daytime chat show, Anderson Live, from September 2011 until May 2013.
