Holly Williams is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Soon after signing with CAA, she had numerous performances across the United States and typically drove her mother’s car while touring alone with a guitar and keyboard. With a guitar and a backpack full of EPs, she traveled to the UK to perform for songwriter Ron Sexsmith. She signed with Universal South Records and went on tour with Billy Bob Thornton, Jewel, Train, Keith Urban, and Kasey Chambers following the publication of her debut EP in 2003. The Ones We Never Knew, Universal South’s debut album, was published in 2004.
After being hurt in a car accident with her sister, Hilary Williams, in March 2006, Williams had to postpone her planned tour. Her sister had to undergo 23 surgeries due to severe injuries. Holly Williams was not sure when she would be able to play again because her right arm and wrist were fractured. Her following album featured the song “Without Jesus Here with Me,” which she penned about her experience during the vehicle accident. Hilary Williams writes about her encounter in her book Sign of Life. During this period, Holly Williams made a few brief musical appearances. On December 9, 2007, she joined John C. Reilly in Nashville, Tennessee, to sing “Let us Duet” at the release of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.
Williams resumed writing songs and playing the guitar after a protracted hiatus. She signed with Luke Lewis at Mercury Records. June 2009 saw the release of Williams’ second studio album, Here with Me.
