Susan Spencer is an American television news reporter and correspondent for 48 Hours Mystery and CBS Sunday Morning. Spencer was employed at CBS-owned WCBS-TV in New York as a researcher from 1971 until 1972. She also worked as a producer and writer for Louisville, Kentucky’s WKPC-TV public affairs program. She was a reporter and co-anchor for the CBS station WCCO-TV in Minneapolis from 1972 to 1977. In 1977, she joined the Washington bureau of CBS News, and in 1978, she was promoted to correspondent. She was appointed medical correspondent for CBS News in 1986.

From 1987 to 1988, she served as the anchor for CBS Sunday Night News. She also served as a stand-in anchor from 1987 to 1988 and as the Sunday anchor of CBS Evening News from 1988 to 1989.
