Rachel Maddow is an American television news program host and liberal political commentator who currently hosts The Rachel Maddow Show, a weekly television show on MSNBC, and serves as the cable network’s special event co-anchor.In 1999, Maddow began working as a radio presenter at Holyoke, Massachusetts’ WRNX (100.9 FM), which was the location of “The Dave in the Morning Show” at the time. She participated in and won the station’s competition to find Dave Brinnel, the main host of the show, a new second lead. She spent two years hosting Big Breakfast on WRSI in Northampton, Massachusetts, after the WRNX show.
In 2004, she left to join the newly formed Air America radio network. Up to its discontinuation in March 2005, she co-hosted Unfiltered with Lizz Winstead, co-creator of The Daily Show, and Chuck D, member of the hip-hop group Public Enemy.
