Paul Gigot is an American journalist, anchor and reporter working as a vice president and editor of the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal since 2001. He oversees the editorial pages of the Journal’s Asian and European editions as well as the OpinionJournal.com website and is in charge of the editorials, op-eds, leisure, and art criticism. After working as a reporter in Chicago in 1980, Gigot moved to Hong Kong in 1982 to become the Journal’s Asia correspondent.
His coverage of the Philippines earned him an award from the Overseas Press Club, and in 1984, he was appointed the first editorial page editor of The Asian Wall Street Journal, which was also based in Hong Kong. In 1987, he was sent to Washington, where he wrote editorials and a weekly political column called “Potomac Watch,” which was recognized with a Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 2000.
