Lisa Sylvester is an American Peabody, Emmy award-winning journalist, anchor, reporter and television correspondent. She previously reported on CNN’s The Situation Room. She joined WPXI, Channel 11 in Pittsburgh, in October 2013, anchoring the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. and on WPGH’s 10 p.m. newscast, which is produced by WPXI. Before beginning her career in major network news, she worked for KTVI-TV in St. Louis, WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois, and WKRN-TV in Nashville, Tennessee. From 2000 until 2004, she was the Washington-based correspondent for Lou Dobbs Tonight and ABC News. After that, she transferred to CNN, where she worked as a correspondent for The Situation Room in Washington, D.C. She took over as anchor of WPXI’s 5 p.m. newscasts in early 2021 after Peggy Finnegan retired in late 2020.
She co-hosted a series of debates for the upcoming Pennsylvania elections in April 2022 with Dennis Owens of WHTM-TV. The debates featured contests between Democratic and Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate on April 21, the Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate on April 25, and the Republican candidates for governor on April 27. On October 25, they convened once more and conducted a debate between Democratic candidate John Fetterman and Republican contender Mehmet Oz for the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania.
