David Gregory is an American journalist, currently working as a CNN political analyst since 2016. He is a television personality and the former host of NBC News’ Sunday morning talk show Meet the Press. At the age of 18, Gregory started working as a summer reporter for Tucson, Arizona’s KGUN-TV. Gregory was also employed by KCRA-TV, an affiliate of NBC in Sacramento, California.

When George W. Bush ran for president in 2000, NBC put Gregory in charge of the press corps covering him. Bush hosted a party on the campaign plane for Gregory’s 30th birthday, complete with cake, during the campaign. Bush dubbed Gregory “Stretch” because of his height (6’5″), and also “Dancing Man” for Gregory’s occasional penchant to display his dance talents. Gregory joined NBC as a White House correspondent following the election. He was selected ‘Best White House Correspondent’ by the conservative Media Research Center for his coverage of Bush’s first 100 days in office. Gregory remained in this role until December 2008, when he accepted the position at Meet the Press.
