As a General Assignment reporter for CFTO, Velshi started his career in journalism. Later on, he joined CablePulse 24 and its sister station CityTV as an anchor and business reporter. He began working for Canada’s first all-business news specialty channel, Report on Business Television (now BNN Bloomberg-Business News Network), in 1999. The Business News, Canada’s first prime-time business news hour, was hosted by Velshi.
